I am Vaishna Sunil K K, a postgraduate in Biotechnology. I have a bachelor’s degree from Amrita Vishwavidyapeetham, Amrita School of Biotechnology, and a master’s degree (National stream under DBT) from the Department of Biotechnology, University of Calicut, with a strong educational background in related fields. I have participated in several studies and projects that are outlined in my resume along with details of my accomplishments. It also contains letters of recommendation from a few of my mentors and a comprehensive review of my educational background, work history, and specific skills relating to this profession.
For my BSc based on photobiology project titled “photoprotective compounds from natural sources” where a preliminary study on different extracts made out of the plant and algal sources were used to check the Sun Protection Factor along with the effect of UV exposure was studied on yeast cells to develop UV induced model for studying SPF-bioactive combinations and also a selected algal extract was used for further studies by conducting endophytic bacterial isolation from that particular algae.
As part of my M.Sc. project titled “A preliminary study on the anticancer property shown by the plant ********, on HCT-116, Human colon cancer cell line” where different kinds of extracts were made out of that particular plant and tested for its cytotoxicity, anti-proliferative effect, IC-50 value from a selected extract and cell death mechanism was also studied using FACS analysis hence I have experience in maintaining cancer cell lines, conducting various cell-based assays, and preparing different extracts from natural sources.
I have acquired very strong research skills and the knowledge to use various methods to study plant and animal life from a molecular stage to help improve their production and to look for ways to improve the quality of life for all humans. My experience includes managing projects by planning the details and timelines, keeping in-depth documents of the projects, and by ensuring all projects meet the requirements set forth by the grants. I also have lab experience with a good knowledge of the tools and procedures used in this industry.
I have good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a research team. I adjust to changing environments quickly and have the ability to work on multiple projects efficiently. I also have excellent communication skills along with the ability to write and give presentations to explain the results of the research and to work efficiently with other professionals.
